Light green in color, egg-shaped, globe-shaped or heart-shaped, this fruit is encased in an unusual skin for a fruit. Some varieties, but not all, produce scaly depressions on the thin green skin. Described as a taste of heaven by true antemoia fans, the white pulp offers a delicate flavor that some say is a yummy blend of banana, vanilla, mango, papaya or pineapple with possibly just a hint of coconut. The refreshing texture is soft, smooth and melting. Almost custard-like, this fruit’s alias actually is custard apple. Large black inedible seeds inhabit the flesh. The thin rind breaks off like scales when ripe.
